Description
A fun craft project to create colorful pinwheels for the 4th of July celebration.
Ingredients
- Double-sided red and white star paper
- Double-sided blue and white star paper
- Wooden dowels or sturdy paper straws (10–12 inches long)
- Brads (paper fasteners)
- Small beads (optional, as spacers)
- Ruler, pencil, scissors
- Hole punch or skewer (for holes)
- Optional: craft glue
Instructions
- Cut a 6×6 or 8×8 inch square from each double-sided paper.
- Lightly draw diagonal lines from corner to corner and cut along each line from the corner, stopping ½ to 1 inch from the center.
- Punch a hole in the center of the square and punch holes in every other corner of the blades.
- Bring each punched corner to the center, stacking the holes, and push the brad through the aligned holes.
- Punch a hole near the top of your dowel or straw and thread a small bead onto the brad’s prongs, then push the prongs through the stick hole.
- Bend the brad prongs outward on the back of the stick and adjust tension so the pinwheel spins freely.
- Repeat the same steps for your second pinwheel.
Notes
- Double-sided paper gives the best contrast.
- Don’t pull the brad too tight—leave room for the blades to spin.
- Use star stickers if you don’t have star paper.
