Description

A quick, tasty treat made with apples and a light batter, perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the milk and egg until combined, then add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  3. Fold in the diced apples.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy!

Use firm, tart apples. Fry in small batches and drain well.
