Description
Create a stunning DIY Aurora Borealis Jar that mimics the beautiful Northern Lights with layers of vibrant colors and shimmering glitter.
Ingredients
- Mason jar (16 oz or similar)
- Water
- Fine glitter (silver, iridescent, or holographic)
- Acrylic or tempera paint (green, blue, purple, and white)
- Cotton balls
- Glow-in-the-dark paint (optional)
- Stick or knife (for pressing cotton)
Instructions
- Start by filling 1/3 of your jar with water.
- Add a few drops of blue or green acrylic paint, seal the lid tightly, and give it a good shake to mix everything together.
- Next, sprinkle in some fine glitter to create that shimmering, starlit effect.
- Take your cotton balls, stretch, and pull them apart, then press them into the jar using a stick or knife until the bottom layer is packed tightly.
- For the next layer, fill another 1/3 of the jar with water and add a different color like purple or turquoise, repeating steps 2-4.
- For the final touch, mix white or a lighter shade of blue into the last layer of water and repeat steps 2-4 again.
- If you want to make it extra special, add a few drops of glow-in-the-dark paint throughout for that magical aurora-like glow.
- Once all the layers are done, seal the jar and gently swirl it to blend the colors a little, mimicking the movement of the Northern Lights.
Notes
- Ensure the jar is clean and dry before starting.
- Experiment with different color combinations for a unique effect.
- Use more or less glitter depending on your sparkle preference.
