Description

A delicious and comforting German classic, these savory patties combine ground beef and pork with fresh herbs and spices for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef and pork mix
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Sauté the chopped onions in a small pan with a little oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes until softened. Allow to cool slightly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and pork mix, breadcrumbs, egg, sautéed onions, Dijon mustard, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and optional paprika. Mix until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into equal-sized patties, roughly 3/4 inch thick.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties without overcrowding and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Remove cooked patties to drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

Notes

Allow the meat mixture to rest for 10 minutes before shaping patties for better texture. Test a small patty for seasoning before cooking the full batch.
