Description
A delicious and comforting German classic, these savory patties combine ground beef and pork with fresh herbs and spices for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef and pork mix
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Sauté the chopped onions in a small pan with a little oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes until softened. Allow to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and pork mix, breadcrumbs, egg, sautéed onions, Dijon mustard, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and optional paprika. Mix until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into equal-sized patties, roughly 3/4 inch thick.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties without overcrowding and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove cooked patties to drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
Notes
Allow the meat mixture to rest for 10 minutes before shaping patties for better texture. Test a small patty for seasoning before cooking the full batch.
