Description

Delightful, light, and fluffy banana donut holes, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Then, add buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract. Combine these wet ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until well mixed.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the banana combination and stir gently until just combined.
  4. Pour oil into a deep saucepan and heat it over medium heat to around 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully drop tablespoons of the batter into the oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  6. Fry each donut hole for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
  7. Remove them carefully using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust the warm donut holes with powdered sugar if desired before serving.

Notes

Ripe bananas are key to sweetness. Consider using an air fryer for a healthier option.
