Description
Create colorful window art using bioplastic suncatchers with this simple recipe. Perfect for adding vibrancy to your home!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 tablespoon glycerin
- Food coloring (optional, for color)
- Wax paper or plastic sheet for molding
- A spoon or craft stick for stirring
- A saucepan
- A small container or mold for shaping the suncatchers (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the cornstarch, water, vinegar, and glycerin. Stir well to mix the ingredients together.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture continuously until it thickens into a gel-like consistency (this should take about 5-7 minutes).
- If you want to make colorful suncatchers, add a few drops of food coloring to the bioplastic mixture and stir to combine.
- Once the mixture is thick, carefully pour it onto a sheet of wax paper or a plastic surface.
- Use a spoon or craft stick to spread the mixture out into thin layers.
- Allow the bioplastic to dry for 24-48 hours, depending on the thickness of the layers.
- Once fully dry, carefully peel the bioplastic off the wax paper.
- Place your bioplastic suncatcher on a window where the sunlight can shine through.
Notes
- For added texture, you can mix in small natural materials such as pressed leaves or flowers before the bioplastic sets.
- Experiment with layering different colors to make multi-colored suncatchers for an eye-catching effect!
