Description

Create beautiful Blue Crayon Suncatchers that add a splash of color to your windows.

Ingredients

  • Blue crayons (different shades for depth)
  • Wax paper
  • Ribbon, string, or fishing line for hanging

Instructions

  1. Begin by peeling the wrappers off the blue crayons. Remove all the wax from each crayon to ensure you have a clean working area.
  2. Use a sharpener or box grater to create shavings from the blue crayons. Make sure to have a variety of shades for added depth and visual interest.
  3. Cut two pieces of wax paper to your desired size and shape. Common shapes include rectangles, circles, or even fun designs like hearts or stars.
  4. Sprinkle the crayon shavings evenly on one piece of wax paper. Arrange the shavings to create a blend of colors and textures.
  5. Carefully place the second piece of wax paper on top of the shavings, making sure to align the edges.
  6. Sandwich the layered wax paper between an old towel or the cover of an ironing board to protect your iron and surfaces.
  7. Using a warm iron (not too hot), gently press down on the towel for a few seconds. Move the iron in small circular motions to help melt the wax and allow it to spread evenly. Be cautious not to overheat or burn the wax paper.
  8. Once the wax has melted and spread, remove the towel and let the wax paper cool completely to harden.
  9. After it has cooled, trim the wax paper into shapes like circles, hearts, or sea creatures.
  10. Punch a hole at the top of your shapes and thread a piece of ribbon, string, or fishing line through it for hanging in a sunny spot.

Notes

  • Experiment with different colors of crayons to create a rainbow effect or mixed pattern designs.
  • You can also add additional layers of wax paper with different colors of shavings for more complex designs, just remember to repeat the melting process for each layer.
