Indulge in a delightful Caramel Apple Cheesecake Trifle, featuring layers of creamy cheesecake, caramel apples, and crunchy graham cracker crumbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (for thickening)
- Pinch of salt
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs (or crushed gingersnaps or Biscoff)
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- ¾ cup caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling
- Whipped cream for topping (optional)
- Extra crumbs or diced apples for garnish
Instructions
- Make the Caramel Apple Filling: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and salt. Cook for 6–8 minutes until the apples start to soften. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook 1–2 minutes more, until the mixture thickens and turns glossy. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- Prepare the Cheesecake Layer: Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with vanilla until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined and fluffy.
- Make the Crumb Layer: In a bowl, mix graham crumbs, melted butter, and brown sugar until evenly moistened. Set aside for layering.
- Assemble the Trifle: In a large trifle dish or clear glass bowl, start with a layer of crumbs. Add a layer of cheesecake filling. Spoon over caramel apple mixture and drizzle lightly with caramel sauce. Repeat the layers until the dish is full, finishing with apples and caramel drizzle on top.
- Garnish: Top with a swirl of whipped cream, a sprinkle of graham crumbs, and a generous drizzle of caramel sauce.
Notes
- For a different flavor, try using gingersnaps or Biscoff cookies for the crumb layer.
- Allow the caramel apple filling to cool completely before assembling to prevent the cheesecake layer from melting.
