Ingredients

- 6 cups apples, peeled and diced
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 packet pectin
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the diced apples, water, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the apples are tender.
- Add the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract to the pot; stir until dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the pectin and boil for an additional 5 minutes until the jam thickens.
- Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars and seal. Allow to cool before storing in the refrigerator.
Notes
Opt for a mix of tart and sweet apples for the best flavor. Consider adding nuts or other fruits for variation.
