Description

A deliciously layered dessert featuring pound cake, apple pie filling, creamy vanilla pudding, and drizzled with caramel sauce, topped with pecans.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (10.75-ounce) frozen classic pound cakes
  • 4 cups cold whole milk
  • 2 (3.4-ounce) boxes of instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 (21-ounce) cans of apple pie filling
  • 1 (8-ounce) container of thawed whipped topping
  • 1 (12.25-ounce) jar of caramel sundae topping
  • 1 cup chopped pecans divided in half

Instructions

  1. Slice both of the frozen pound cakes into bite-size cubes.
  2. Add the cold milk to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Sprinkle both packages of instant pudding mix over the milk. Use a handheld mixer on medium-low speed or a whisk, and beat until the pudding begins to thicken.
  3. Line the bottom of a trifle bowl with a layer of the cubed pound cake.
  4. Spread ½ of the pudding mix over the bottom layer of pound cake.
  5. Spoon 1 of the cans of apple pie filling over the pudding layer.
  6. Evenly drizzle ½ of the caramel sundae topping over the apple pie filling.
  7. Sprinkle ½ cup of the chopped pecans over the caramel layer.
  8. Repeat the layers of pound cake, pudding, and apple pie filling, then cover the trifle and chill for 3 hours.
  9. Before serving, spoon the thawed whipped topping on top, drizzle with remaining caramel topping, and sprinkle with remaining chopped pecans.

Notes

  • Chilling the trifle for 3 hours helps all the flavors meld together.
