Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 12 ounces beer (pale ale or lager)
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Whisk until evenly mixed.
- Pour in the beer and mix until just combined; it’s okay if the batter is a bit lumpy.
- Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and drizzle melted butter over the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
You can prepare the batter in advance and store it in the fridge overnight. An air fryer works for a quicker bake at 325°F (160°C) for 30-35 minutes.
