- In another bowl, combine 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1/4 cup melted butter, 1 large egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
- Pour the wet ingredients into your dry mixture. Gently stir with a spatula until just combined, avoiding over-mixing to keep the muffins light and fluffy.
- Carefully fold in the 1 cup halved cherries, ensuring they are evenly distributed without mashing them.
