Description

A comforting dish of tender chicken in a rich broth, topped with fluffy dumplings that evoke the essence of home cooking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken (boneless, skinless, cut into pieces)
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups carrots (sliced)
  • 1 cup celery (sliced)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the chicken, broth, sliced carrots, celery, and diced onion. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, and sour cream. Combine the wet and dry ingredients gently.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling batter into the bubbling soup. Cover the pot and let the dumplings cook for about 15 minutes.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding thyme or rosemary. This dish can be customized with additional vegetables or a splash of heavy cream for richness.
