Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  3. Lay the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring continuously until smooth and bubbly.
  5. Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
  6. Bake for about 5 minutes until golden, keeping an eye to prevent burning.
  7. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee; let sit for a few minutes to melt.
  8. Use a spatula to spread melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
  9. Sprinkle chopped nuts and sea salt on top if desired.
  10. Let cool completely, then break into pieces for serving.
