Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Combine in a separate bowl the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Bring together the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, folding until just combined.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Sprinkle a mix of cinnamon and sugar over the top of the batter.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely before frosting with the mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or cream cheese filling. Be mindful not to overmix the batter.
