- 9 lasagna noodles
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 ounces marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic; cook until meat is browned.
- Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- In a baking dish, layer as follows: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce, then place three noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and sprinkle with Parmesan. Repeat layers, finishing with mozzarella on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
Notes
Make-ahead tip: Assemble before baking and refrigerate for up to 24 hours or freeze for up to 3 months. Adjust baking time if cooking from frozen.
