Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Wax paper
  • Cookie cutters or templates
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Pot for cooking
  • Non-stick cooking spray (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the water, corn syrup, and white vinegar. Stir until everything is blended together nicely.
  2. Gradually sprinkle in the cornstarch while stirring, ensuring your mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Divide the mixture into separate bowls based on the number of colors you want to create.
  4. Add food coloring to each bowl, mixing well until you achieve your desired hues.
  5. Pour the colorful mixtures into a pot and cook over medium heat, stirring continuously for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  7. Spoon the mixture onto sheets of wax paper and use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes.
  8. Allow your suncatchers to dry for about 24 hours, flipping them halfway through for even drying.
  9. Once fully dry, carefully peel them off the wax paper and find the perfect sunny window to display your colorful creations.
