Description
A fun and easy recipe for making bubble dough using cornstarch and dish soap, perfect for creative play.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup dish soap (mild or tear-free recommended)
- Optional: food coloring or liquid watercolors for color
- Optional: a few drops of essential oil for scent (lavender, lemon, or mint)
Instructions
- Start by measuring out 1 cup of cornstarch and placing it into a bowl.
- Gradually pour in 1/2 cup of dish soap while stirring the mixture with a spoon. You can also use your hands to mix.
- Continue mixing until the ingredients are well combined.
- Begin kneading the mixture with your hands. This will help to make it smooth, stretchy, and not too sticky.
- If the dough feels too dry, add a little more dish soap, a teaspoon at a time. If it’s too sticky, sprinkle in more cornstarch until it reaches the desired consistency.
- If you want to add color, now is the time to do so. Add a few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolor to the dough and continue kneading until the color is evenly distributed.
- For a pleasant scent, add a drop or two of essential oil and knead it in well.
- Your bubble dough is now ready to use! Stretch, squish, and mold it into shapes, using cookie cutters or plastic knives for added fun and fine motor practice.
Notes
- Store any leftover bubble dough in an airtight container to keep it fresh for future playtime.
- For a fun twist, try adding small items like beads or sequins to the dough for added texture and visual interest.
