Description
A festive and indulgent appetizer featuring layers of Camembert cheese, cranberry sauce, and pistachios, shaped like a Christmas tree.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 150 g Camembert cheese, sliced
- 4 tbsp cranberry sauce
- 3 tbsp chopped pistachios
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh rosemary or thyme (optional, for garnish)
- Honey (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out two puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Place one sheet on the lined baking tray.
- Evenly distribute sliced Camembert over the bottom sheet, leaving a small border.
- Spread cranberry sauce gently over the cheese layer.
- Sprinkle chopped pistachios over the cranberry layer.
- Place second puff pastry sheet on top and press down lightly to seal.
- Cut the layered pastry into a large triangle (tree shape). Slice horizontal branches on both sides, leaving the center intact. Twist each branch 1–2 times.
- Brush the tree with beaten egg for a golden finish. Add decorative stars or shapes from scraps if desired.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden and puffed. Remove and let cool slightly.
- Garnish with herbs, drizzle with honey (optional), and serve warm as a pull-apart appetizer.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, ensure the puff pastry is made without animal products.
- This dish is best served warm.
- You can customize the garnishes with nuts or herbs of your choice.
