Description
Create colorful suncatchers using old crayons in a fun and easy DIY project.
Ingredients
- Old crayons
- A sharpener or knife
- Bowls or cups
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Metal cookie cutters
- A chopstick or skewer
- Ribbon or string
Instructions
- Get your oven ready at 250°F (120°C).
- Take the paper off your old crayons.
- Use a pencil sharpener to make a bunch of crayon shavings. Put the different colors in separate cups.
- Put your metal cookie cutters on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Fill each cookie cutter with a thin layer of crayon shavings. You can make them all one color or create a beautiful rainbow mix.
- Pop the baking sheet in the oven for 3-5 minutes, just until the shavings are all melted.
- Take it out of the oven. Before it hardens, poke a little hole at the top of each star with a chopstick.
- Let the stars cool down all the way, then they’ll pop right out of the cookie cutters.
- Tie a ribbon through the hole and hang your new suncatchers in a sunny window.
Notes
- Be careful with the oven and hot items.
- Experiment with different color combinations for unique designs.
- Ensure the shavings are evenly layered for the best melting results.
