Experience an explosive adventure with this fun and messy DIY Baking Soda Volcano project perfect for all ages.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup Baking soda
  • 1/2 cup Vinegar
  • 1 squirt Dish soap (optional)
  • Food coloring (red or brown suggested)
  • 1 Plastic bottle or small container
  • Modeling clay or play-dough
  • 1 Tray or large dish
  • 1 Funnel (optional)

Instructions

  1. Create your volcano by molding the modeling clay or play-dough around the plastic bottle, leaving the top open for the eruption.
  2. Place the volcano on a tray or large dish to catch the overflow.
  3. Pour 1/4 cup of baking soda into the bottle. Add a squirt of dish soap for extra frothy fun, if desired.
  4. Sprinkle in a few drops of food coloring for a vibrant lava effect, using red or brown.
  5. Carefully pour 1/2 cup of vinegar into the bottle, using a funnel if available. Step back and watch the eruption!
