Description

Create your own magical flower fairy light jar for a whimsical glow in your space.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 clear mason jar or recycled glass jar with lid
  • 1 strand of battery-operated fairy lights (warm white or multicolor)
  • Silk flowers, faux greenery, or dried flowers
  • Hot glue gun or craft glue
  • Double-sided tape or floral foam (optional for holding lights)
  • Ribbon, twine, or lace (for decorating the lid)
  • Optional: butterfly stickers, glitter, tiny fairy figurines, or moss

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Jar: Clean and dry your glass jar thoroughly. Optionally frost the inside using frosted glass spray or Mod Podge and tissue paper.
  2. Arrange the Flowers: Add silk or dried flowers inside the jar, layering some at the bottom and pressing others against the inner walls.
  3. Optional: Use glue dots or double-sided tape to hold larger pieces in place.
  4. Add the Fairy Lights: Gently coil your fairy lights and tuck them into the jar, weaving them between flowers, and placing the battery pack at the bottom or taping it under the lid.
  5. Turn the lights on to adjust placement for the best glow!
  6. Decorate the Outside: Wrap the top of the jar with twine, ribbon, lace, or washi tape and add any additional decorations like charms or tiny fairy figurines.
  7. Seal and Display: Close the lid (or leave it off for an open terrarium look) and place your fairy light jar in your desired location for a charming glow.

Notes

  • If you want a softer light, consider using a frosted finish on the jar’s interior.
  • For a more secure hold, consider using floral foam.
  • This project can be customized with different decorations according to the season or occasion.
