Description

Create a vibrant DIY Garden Suncatcher Wind Chime using natural materials and mason jar rings for a colorful outdoor decoration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Plant material – small flower blooms, petals
  • 1218 inch stick
  • Mason jar rings (3 total: two large, one narrow)
  • Clear contact paper
  • Black permanent magic marker
  • Glue (optional)
  • Ribbon
  • Large suction cup hook (optional)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Take a nature walk with kids or friends to collect flower materials.
  2. Cut squares of clear contact paper larger than the mason jar ring.
  3. Draw around the mason jar ring on one piece of contact paper using a permanent marker.
  4. Peel off the backing and place the contact paper sticky side up on your workspace.
  5. Arrange flower petals and blooms face down on the sticky contact paper.
  6. Cover blooms with a second square of contact paper, sealing the petals in between.
  7. Cut out the circle drawn on the contact paper, trimming slightly inside the line for a proper fit.
  8. Punch a hole about half an inch from the edge of the circle for hanging.
  9. Fit the contact paper into the mason jar ring, using glue if desired for security.
  10. Repeat the process with remaining mason jar rings to create additional suncatchers.
  11. Find a suitable stick and arrange the mason jar rings beneath it.
  12. Thread a ribbon through the hole in one suncatcher and tie it to the stick.
  13. Repeat for the other suncatchers, then tie a hanging ribbon to the stick.
  14. Choose a location to hang the wind chime, ideally indoors or on a shepherd’s hook outdoors.

Notes

  • Choose thin flower buds and petals for best results.
  • Make sure the suncatchers are facing the correct way before securing them.
  • A suction cup hook can be used to hang the wind chime indoors.
  • Be cautious of weather conditions if hanging outdoors.
