Create your own DIY Glitter Jar (Calm Down Jar) for relaxation and mindfulness.
Ingredients

- 1 clean clear jar or bottle with a tight lid (16 oz mason jars work well)
- 1/2 cup clear glue (or glitter glue for extra shimmer)
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2–3 tbsp fine glitter (various colors or holographic)
- 1–2 drops food coloring (optional)
- A few drops clear dish soap or glycerin (optional)
- Hot glue gun (optional, to seal the lid)
Instructions
- Fill your clean jar about 1/4 full with warm water.
- Add the clear glue — this helps suspend the glitter longer.
- Stir well to combine the water and glue.
- Add the fine glitter to your jar — fine glitter floats longer, while chunky glitter adds bold movement.
- If you’d like to tint the water, add a few drops of food coloring.
- To slow the glitter’s fall, add a few drops of dish soap or glycerin.
- Fill the rest of the jar with warm water, leaving a little room at the top.
- Tightly secure the lid on the jar.
- (Optional) If you want to make it leak-proof, use a hot glue gun to apply glue around the rim before sealing.
- Shake your glitter jar well to mix everything together.
- Enjoy watching the swirl of glitter slowly fall to the bottom.
- Use this glitter jar during calm-down times, meditation, or creative play.
