Description

Create your own glowing moon rocks with a fun and simple DIY recipe that glows in the dark!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup white school glue
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon glow-in-the-dark paint or pigment
  • 1/4 cup liquid starch
  • Black or gray food coloring (optional)
  • 1 small mixing bowl
  • 1 spoon or craft stick for mixing

Instructions

  1. Start by pouring 1/2 cup of white school glue into a small mixing bowl.
  2. Add 1/4 cup of warm water to the glue and stir until it’s nice and smooth.
  3. Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of your chosen glow-in-the-dark paint. If desired, add a few drops of black or gray food coloring to give it a unique look. Stir everything together until well combined.
  4. Gradually sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch while stirring the mixture. This will start to thicken your concoction.
  5. Pour in 1/4 cup of liquid starch while stirring continuously. Keep stirring until you see the mixture transform into a sticky, gooey dough.
  6. Once the mixture has thickened, knead the dough with your hands for a few minutes until it feels firm and smooth to the touch.
  7. Shape your dough into rock-like balls or uneven clumps to achieve that authentic moon rock appearance. Let your creativity shine as you make each one unique!
  8. For some fun, try bouncing your moon rocks off the ground and enjoy the playful magic of your creations.
  9. Finally, dim the lights and watch in awe as your glowing moon rocks illuminate the dark!

Notes

  • To make your moon rocks even more colorful, consider mixing different shades of glow-in-the-dark paint or adding multiple colors of food coloring to your mixture.
  • If you find the dough is too sticky, you can add a little more cornstarch to help with the consistency, making it easier to shape your moon rocks.
