Create your own magical light-up sparkle jar with this easy DIY project using acrylic paints, glitter, and LED lights.
Ingredients
- Clear glass jar with lid
- Battery-operated LED fairy lights or tea light
- Acrylic paints (pastels, metallics, or glow-in-the-dark)
- Small paintbrushes
- Glitter (fine or chunky)
- Mod Podge or clear glue
- Ribbon or twine (optional)
- Decorative stickers or gems (optional)
Instructions
- Paint the Jar: Begin by using acrylic paint to hand-paint your chosen designs on the outside of the jar. Create designs like stars, swirls, fairies, or fireflies. Let each layer of paint dry completely.
- Add Sparkle: While the paint is still slightly tacky, sprinkle glitter over the painted areas of the jar. Allow the jar to dry fully.
- Insert the Lights: Place your battery-operated fairy lights or LED tea light inside the jar and arrange them for an even glow.
- Seal & Decorate: Close the lid if using one, or leave it slightly ajar. Tie ribbon or twine around the neck and embellish the lid with stickers or charms.
Notes
- Experiment with different painting techniques like sponge painting or stenciling.
- Add essential oil drops to the inside of the lid for a subtle fragrance.
