Description

Delightful crispy apple rings dusted with warm cinnamon sugar, perfect for cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 cups neutral oil (vegetable or canola)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by washing and slicing them into rings about 1/4 inch thick. Remove seeds and core.
  2. Make the batter by combining flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon in a bowl. Gradually whisk in water until smooth.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or skillet over medium-high heat, reaching 350°F to 375°F.
  4. Dip each apple ring into the batter and carefully lower them into the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Drain the cooked rings on a paper towel-lined plate and toss them in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while still warm.
  6. Serve warm, optionally with caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh. Can prep apple rings and batter in advance. Air fryer can be used for lighter cooking.
