- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
- Streusel topping:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
- Add the dry mix to the wet mix slowly and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chopped nuts and mini chocolate chips if you use them.
- Make the streusel: combine flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Pour in the melted butter and mix until crumbly.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to place dough balls on the baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
- Sprinkle streusel generously on top of each cookie dough ball.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For a variation, omit nuts and chips for a plain cookie, or add dried fruit for a different flavor.
