Description

Glow in the Dark Jolly Rancher Candy Apples are a fun and festive treat that light up under UV light, perfect for parties or Halloween.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or your choice)
  • 2 cups Jolly Rancher candies (mixed flavors)
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 wooden sticks or candy apple sticks
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup (optional, for extra shine)
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda (to create the glow effect under UV light)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Wash the apples thoroughly to remove any wax. Pat them dry and remove the stems.
  2. Insert Sticks: Gently insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple, pushing it about halfway in.
  3. Prepare the Melting Pot: In a medium saucepan, add the Jolly Rancher candies and water. Optionally, add corn syrup for extra shine.
  4. Melt the Candy: Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring continuously until the Jolly Ranchers are completely melted.
  5. Add Baking Soda: Stir in the baking soda, which will create a bubbly reaction, making the candy coating glow under UV light.
  6. Coat the Apples: Carefully dip each apple into the melted candy mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  7. Cool the Apples: Place the coated apples on a sheet of parchment paper to cool and harden.
  8. Repeat: Repeat the melting and coating process for any remaining apples.
  9. Check Consistency: If the candy begins to harden while you’re working, reheat it gently to maintain a smooth consistency.
  10. Serve and Enjoy: Once fully cooled, your glow in the dark apples are ready to impress!

Notes

  • Make sure to use UV light to see the glow effect.
  • The baking soda is key to achieving the glowing reaction, so do not skip it.
  • Store any leftovers in a cool place to prevent them from getting sticky.
