Description

A playful, show-stopping Grinch Face cheeseball that instantly becomes the star of any holiday snack board! Creamy, savory, and coated in fluffy green herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz (2 blocks) cream cheese, fully softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, finely shredded
  • ½ cup mozzarella or Monterey Jack, shredded
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Green gel food coloring (IMPORTANT — gel only)
  • 2 cups fresh dill, very finely chopped
  • 2 green olives (eyes)
  • 2 small black olive slices (pupils)
  • Black olive slices or olive tapenade (eyebrows & smile)
  • 1 small cherry tomato or red bell pepper circle (nose)
  • Cheddar cheese cubes for serving
  • Sliced white cheese (provolone or mozzarella) for serving
  • Salami or pepperoni slices for serving
  • Round butter crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and fluffy (2 minutes).
  2. Add cheddar, mozzarella, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully combined and creamy (3 minutes).
  3. Add green gel food coloring a little at a time, mixing until a bright Grinch-green color is achieved (1 minute).
  4. Scoop the mixture onto plastic wrap and shape into a slightly flattened round dome—avoid making it too tall so the face stays visible (2 minutes).
  5. Wrap tightly and refrigerate until firm (30–45 minutes).
  6. Spread finely chopped dill onto a plate. Unwrap the cheeseball and gently press dill over the entire surface until fully coated and fluffy (5 minutes).
  7. Create the Grinch face by pressing green olives in for eyes, black olive slices for pupils, thin olive strips for eyebrows and a curved smile, and place the cherry tomato slice in the center for the nose (5 minutes).
  8. Transfer to a serving board and surround with cheese cubes, crackers, folded salami, and fresh dill sprigs. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for the best color result.
  • Chill the cheeseball for a firmer texture and easier handling.
  • Customize facial decorations as desired to add more character.
