- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your pans by greasing and lining them with parchment paper.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and half of the sprinkles; set aside.
- Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, beat egg, sugar, buttermilk, sour cream, oil, and vanilla until thoroughly combined.
- Combine both mixtures gradually adding dry mixture to wet, mixing carefully until no dry flour remains. Fold in remaining sprinkles gently.
- Pour evenly into prepared cake pans. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Beat softened butter in a mixing bowl until creamy and smooth for the frosting.
- Add vanilla and salt, blending in to enhance the flavor.
- Incorporate confectioners’ sugar gradually, mixing on low first. Increase speed and beat until fluffy and spreadable.
- Mix in extra sprinkles for delightful pops of color.
Notes
This cake can be made a day in advance. Store wrapped at room temperature for best flavor. Customize by adding jam or switching up sprinkles for seasonal themes.
