Description

A delightful Italian bread infused with herbs and melted cheeses, perfect for any meal or gathering.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1½ tablespoons dried Italian herb blend
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow to rest for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Pour in the olive oil, 3 cups of flour, and salt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Transfer the dough into an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Mix softened butter, garlic, and herbs to create herb butter.
  6. Roll the dough into a 12×18 inch rectangle and spread herb butter, then sprinkle cheeses and parsley.
  7. Roll the dough tightly, pinch seams, and place in a greased loaf pan. Let rise for 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly, slice, and serve.

Notes

Store bread wrapped in plastic for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat for best texture.
