Description
Deliciously fluffy jelly donuts filled with your choice of sweet jam, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sweet jam (e.g., strawberry or raspberry)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Warm the milk until lukewarm, ensuring it’s not too hot. Dissolve the yeast in the milk, allowing it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl, creating a dry mixture.
- Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, working it until it’s silky smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, roughly 60 minutes.
- Punch down the dough, then roll it out to about ½ inch thick.
- Cut out circles using a cookie cutter, reserving half of them for the tops.
- Fill half the circles with a spoonful of jam and top with another dough circle, pinching the edges tightly.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F.
- Fry the donuts until golden brown on each side, about 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the donuts, let them drain on paper towels, and dust with powdered sugar while warm.
Notes
For lighter donuts, consider using an air fryer or bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes.
