A fun and easy DIY project to create a glowing baking soda dancing ghost jar for Halloween.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 clear glass mason jar (pint size)
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
- ¼ cup white vinegar
- Small tissue ghosts or cotton balls
- 1 teaspoon glow-in-the-dark paint or ¼ cup tonic water
- 1 LED tealight or mini blacklight
- Optional: a sprinkle of fine glitter
Instructions
- Shape your ghosts using white tissue paper or cotton balls, crumpling or fluffing them to make them float better.
- Add glow-in-the-dark paint or tonic water to your ghosts, then let them dry for 10-15 minutes.
- Draw faces on your ghosts using a black marker.
- Fill the mason jar with warm water and baking soda, then add vinegar to activate the fizz.
- Drop the glowing ghosts into the jar and place an LED tealight or mini blacklight underneath or next to the jar for effect.
Notes
- Prep jars ahead of time for kids.
- Keep vinegar in a squeeze bottle for easy pouring.
- Most materials cost under $10.
- Turn off the main lights to see the glow effect better.
