Description
Create stunning melted bead suncatchers that glow and add a beautiful decorative touch to your space.
Ingredients
- Translucent plastic pony beads (or glow-in-the-dark beads)
- Metal baking molds, muffin tins, or cookie cutters
- Aluminum foil
- Optional: metal jump rings or drill (for hanging hole)
- String, twine, or fishing line
- Oven or toaster oven
- Optional: glow-in-the-dark paint for added glow effect
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking tray with aluminum foil.
- Arrange the pony beads in a single layer inside a metal baking mold or cookie cutter placed on the foil. Be creative with colors and patterns.
- Bake for 15–25 minutes, until the beads are fully melted.
- Cool the suncatchers for about 15 minutes before removing them from the mold. Handle with care.
- (Optional) Use a drill or heated skewer to make a hole for hanging.
- Thread string, twine, or fishing line through the hole and hang your suncatcher in a sunny spot.
Notes
- Use metal molds or cookie cutters only—plastic will melt in the oven.
- Choose beads labeled as safe for melting to avoid toxic fumes.
- If using glow-in-the-dark paint, let the melted suncatchers cool completely before applying.
- Allow the melted bead pieces to cool fully before removing them to avoid warping or cracking.
- For a professional touch, use clear fishing line for hanging to make them look like they’re floating.
