Description

A fun and engaging science experiment to create a mini volcanic eruption using simple ingredients from your pantry.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda (the “lava” base)
  • 1 cup vinegar (the eruption hero!)
  • 2 tbsp dish soap (for extra foam!)
  • Food coloring (red/orange = lava vibes!)
  • Small jar or cup (your volcano crater)
  • Tray (to catch the epic mess)

Instructions

  1. Build Your Volcano: Mix baking soda + dish soap in the jar.
  2. Color the Lava: Add 5-10 drops food coloring (bonus: layer colors for rainbow lava!).
  3. The BIG Moment: Slowly pour in vinegar—stand back as foam explodes out!
  4. Repeat & Experiment: Try adjusting amounts: More vinegar = bigger eruption!

Notes

  • Why it works: Baking soda (base) + vinegar (acid) = carbon dioxide bubbles!
  • Mess-free hack: Do this outside or in a bathtub.
  • Next-level fun: Add glitter to the lava or build a clay volcano around the jar!
