Description

A classic comfort dish featuring tender chicken and fluffy dumplings in a rich broth, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken, cut into pieces
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil and add the chicken pieces. Cook until the chicken is fully cooked, about 20 to 25 minutes. Remove the chicken, set aside to cool, then shred.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in the melted butter and milk until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into flat strips.
  5. Drop the strips into the boiling broth, and add the shredded chicken back into the pot.
  6. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
  7. Season with pepper and garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use homemade chicken broth. Consider adding vegetables like carrots or peas for added nutrition.
