- 3 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 box vanilla wafers
- 2 ripe bananas
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, flour, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbling.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until smooth. Gradually add half of the hot mixture to the yolks, whisking continuously.
- Return the egg mixture to the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes while stirring.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- In a large serving dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding. Repeat layers and finish with pudding on top.
- Top with whipped cream and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Make ahead up to a day in advance for best flavor. Avoid overcooking the pudding to maintain creamy texture.
