Description

A delightful frosting that combines vibrant orange flavor with creamy texture, perfect for cakes, cookies, and cupcakes.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons heavy cream or whole milk
  • Optional: 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon orange extract
  • Optional: Orange gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Beat the softened butter for 2 to 3 minutes until fluffy.
  2. Add the orange zest and mix for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Incorporate 2 cups of powdered sugar gradually, starting on low speed.
  4. Continue mixing, adding the remaining powdered sugar, fine salt, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons of cream, for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour in the fresh orange juice and beat for another minute.
  6. Adjust consistency with heavy cream, adding one tablespoon at a time.
  7. Beat for another 2 minutes to fluff the mixture.
  8. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with a vegan alternative and use plant-based milk.
