Ingredients
For the Meat Sauce
1 lb ground beef
6 slices bacon, chopped
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes, with juices
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Cheese Mixture
15 oz ricotta cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley
For the Lasagna
9–12 lasagna noodles (uncooked, as needed)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Meat Sauce
-
Cook the bacon
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, leaving the bacon fat in the pan. -
Brown the beef
Add ground beef and chopped onion to the skillet. Cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking up the meat, until browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess grease if needed. -
Build the sauce
Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, just until fragrant. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, letting the flavors come together.
Step 2: Prepare the Cheese Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ricotta, Parmesan, mozzarella, egg, garlic powder, and dried parsley. Mix until smooth and well blended. Set aside.
Step 3: Assemble the Lasagna
-
Preheat the oven
Preheat to 375°F (190°C). -
Start layering
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. -
Build the layers
-
Add a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles
-
Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles
-
Spoon over meat sauce and sprinkle with cooked bacon
-
-
Repeat
Repeat the layers until ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce on top. -
Top it off
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
Step 4: Bake
-
Covered bake
Cover the dish with foil (spray the foil with cooking spray so it doesn’t stick). Bake for 25 minutes. -
Uncover and finish
Remove foil and bake for another 15–20 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
Step 5: Serve
Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, then serve warm.
