- 1 cup cake flour
- 1/2 cup sugar

- 1 packet instant yeast

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk for frosting
- Pink food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cake flour, sugar, cocoa powder, instant yeast, and salt. Whisk together.
- Combine the wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk melted butter, warm milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Add pink food coloring if desired and mix.
- Make the dough: Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
- Let the dough rise: Place in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about 60 minutes until doubled in size.
- Prepare the filling: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, set aside.
- Roll out the dough: Punch down the risen dough and roll into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
- Spread cream cheese evenly over the dough and sprinkle cinnamon-brown sugar mixture on top.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log; slice into 12 pieces.
- Arrange in a greased baking dish and pour heavy cream over the top.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Make the frosting: Mix powdered sugar with milk until pourable consistency.
- Frost the warm rolls immediately and serve.
Notes
Consider making the dough a day ahead and refrigerating it overnight. These rolls can also be cooked in an air fryer for a quicker option.
