Description
An indulgent lasagna with layers of tender noodles, savory ground beef, and rich marinara sauce, topped with gooey mozzarella and creamy ricotta.

- 1 pound lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 1 container (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil a large pot of salted water and cook your lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Meanwhile, in a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a medium bowl, mix together ricotta cheese and egg until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Start layering: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 1: Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Layer 2: Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
- Layer 3: Sprinkle one-third of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the ricotta.
- Layer 4: Top with another third of the meat sauce.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with the last layer of noodles and the final meat sauce, then sprinkle remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese bubbles and turns golden brown.
- Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Make ahead by preparing the lasagna a day in advance and refrigerating it. You can also add veggies for flavor enhancement.
