Description

These Royal Blue Candy Apples are a delightful treat that combines a creamy crunch with a stunning blue finish, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Gala work best)
  • 6 decorative sticks or jeweled skewers
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ tsp clear vanilla extract (optional)
  • Royal blue oil-based candy color (not gel or water-based)
  • Edible pearl or shimmer dust (optional for metallic shine)

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottom saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  2. Heat over medium-high, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Once boiling, stop stirring and allow it to reach 300°F (150°C) — the hard-crack stage.
  4. Remove from heat immediately.
  5. Carefully stir in royal blue candy color and vanilla extract if desired. Mix gently until even.
  6. Wash apples thoroughly to remove wax (use warm water with a splash of vinegar).
  7. Dry completely and insert jeweled or decorative sticks firmly into the center.
  8. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  9. Tilt the pan slightly and dip each apple into the syrup, coating evenly.
  10. Rotate the apple to let excess syrup drip off.
  11. Set each apple on the prepared parchment and allow it to harden at room temperature.
  12. Once cooled, dust lightly with edible shimmer or pearl dust for that high-gloss mirror finish.

Notes

  • For best results, use apples that are firm and fresh.
  • Ensure the candy color is oil-based for the best finish.
  • Leave apples at room temperature to harden, do not refrigerate.
