Description

Indulge in the delightful combination of salty and sweet with these Salted Caramel Chocolate Crack Bars. A perfect treat for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3540 saltine crackers (to line a 10×15-inch baking sheet)
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment, letting it hang over the edges. Arrange the crackers in a snug single layer to form the base. (≈ 5 minutes)
  2. Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in 20–30 second microwave bursts until smooth. Spread over the cracker base and refrigerate to partially set. (≈ 5–6 minutes + 10 minutes chilling)
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil and let it bubble for 3 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. The caramel should be glossy and thick. (≈ 8 minutes)
  4. Remove the tray from the fridge and pour the hot caramel over the chocolate, spreading it quickly into an even layer. (≈ 2 minutes)
  5. While caramel is hot, sprinkle mini chocolate chips and finish with a touch of flaky sea salt. (≈ 1 minute)
  6. Refrigerate until completely set. Lift from the tray, slice into squares, and enjoy that sweet–salty crackly magic. (≈ 2–3 hours chilling)

Notes

  • Ensure the crackers are arranged tightly to prevent gaps.
  • Using coconut oil in the chocolate layer adds a creamier texture, but it’s optional.
  • Flaky sea salt enhances the flavor profile, so don’t skip it!
