Description

Savory Ham & Cheese Puff Pastry Christmas Trees are delightful, crunchy treats filled with cheesy goodness and ham, perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry, fully thawed
  • 8 slices Deli Ham, thin slices
  • 8 slices Cheese (Cheddar, Gouda, Swiss, Mozzarella), choose your favorite
  • 4 pieces Wooden Skewers (sturdy toothpicks are a substitution)
  • 4 tablespoons Melted Butter, brings richness
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic, fresh garlic recommended
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Fresh Parsley, fresh touch; can substitute dried
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame or Poppy Seeds, optional
  • 2 tablespoons Honey Mustard or Fig Jam, for between cheese and ham

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll one sheet of fully thawed puff pastry on a clean surface. Place slices of cheese evenly across the pastry, followed by a layer of deli ham. Spread honey mustard or fig jam between the cheese and ham if desired. Place another sheet of puff pastry on top, pressing down lightly.
  3. Cut the pastry into 1-inch strips and fold each onto a wooden skewer, creating a zigzag pattern that resembles a tree.
  4. Mix together the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley to make a garlic butter glaze. Brush this over each tree-shaped pastry.
  5. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and puffed up.
  6. Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a twist, experiment with different cheese varieties.
  • These can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge before baking.
  • Serve warm for the best texture.
