- 6 cups sliced apples
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Layer the sliced apples in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter until crumbly.
- Spread the topping mixture over the apples in the slow cooker.
- Pour water around the edges of the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Serve warm, optionally with ice cream.
Notes
For best results, use a mixture of sweet and tart apples. Portion leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for three months.
