Description

Crispy, golden, and irresistibly festive puff pastry Christmas trees filled with ham and cheese, perfect for any holiday gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 68 slices deli ham, thin
  • 68 slices cheese (Gruyère, Swiss, mozzarella, or gouda)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), and gently roll out the puff pastry to even the thickness.
  2. Cut the pastry into graduated squares: large (3.5–4 inches), medium (3 inches), small (2 inches), and tiny (1–1.5 inches), aiming for 4–5 layers per tree.
  3. Build the bottom layers: place a pastry square, top with ham, then cheese, and cover with another square. Keep the upper layers plain.
  4. Whisk the egg with 1 tbsp water and brush lightly over each square. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
  5. Arrange the squares separately on a lined baking sheet and bake until puffed and golden, approximately 15–18 minutes.
  6. Allow pieces to cool slightly, then stack onto wooden skewers from largest to smallest, forming Christmas tree shapes.
  7. Finish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for a festive green touch.

Notes

  • Feel free to mix and match cheeses according to your preference.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
  • These can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
