Description

A delightful layered cake combining moist chocolate cake with a creamy strawberry-studded cream cheese filling, topped with chocolate chips and nuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Additional strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Combine the chocolate cake mix, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and 3 large eggs in a large mixing bowl. Beat for 2–3 minutes until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared dish and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. While the cake is baking, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in the chopped strawberries.
  5. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the warm cake base, spreading it evenly.
  6. Pour the remaining cake batter over the cream cheese layer gently.
  7. Return the cake to the oven and bake for an additional 20–25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. In the last 5 minutes, sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts on top. Bake until melted.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing and garnish with additional strawberries.

Notes

Soften cream cheese before mixing. Use fresh strawberries for best results. Can be made gluten-free or vegan by swapping ingredients as needed.
