Description

Create your own Under the Sea Ocean Slime for fun and imaginative playtime without using borax.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup clear or white school glue
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 12 tbsp saline solution (contact lens solution with boric acid & sodium borate)
  • Blue food coloring or liquid watercolor
  • Glitter (blue, silver, iridescent)
  • Small ocean-themed beads, shells, or fish confetti (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine 1 cup of glue and 1/2 cup of water. Stir until the mixture is fully mixed and smooth.
  2. Add a few drops of blue food coloring or liquid watercolor to the glue mixture. Stir well until the color is evenly distributed throughout.
  3. Sprinkle in some glitter (choose from silver, iridescent, or blue) to give your slime a shimmering ocean effect. Mix until the glitter is evenly incorporated.
  4. Add 1/2 tsp of baking soda to the mixture. This will help firm the slime.
  5. Slowly add 1 tablespoon of saline solution while stirring the mixture. Keep adding a little more saline solution, stirring continuously, until the slime starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  6. Once the slime begins to form, knead it with your hands until it becomes smooth, stretchy, and no longer sticky.
  7. If you would like to add small ocean-themed decorations, gently knead in the beads, fish confetti, or mini shells at this stage.
  8. Your Under the Sea Ocean Slime is ready to play with! Store any leftover slime in an airtight container to keep it fresh for next time.

Notes

  • For a more intense ocean color, you can mix different shades of blue food coloring or add a touch of green.
  • Experiment with different types of glitter to create unique effects in your slime, such as adding glow-in-the-dark glitter for a nighttime ocean vibe.
