Description
Create beautiful and colorful sun catchers using wax paper and crayon shavings for an artistic touch in your home decor.
Ingredients
- Wax Paper
- Grated Crayons
- Iron
- Old Towel
Instructions
- Start by cutting a large piece of wax paper to your desired size.
- For younger children, gently fold the wax paper in half to create a crease down the middle.
- Allow young children to sprinkle grated crayons on one side of the wax paper and use their fingers to spread the colors around.
- For older children, provide colored crayon shavings from a grater and encourage them to create patterns with the different colors.
- Once the crayon pieces are evenly spread, fold the wax paper in half to sandwich the crayons.
- Place the old towel over the top of the folded wax paper to protect the iron.
- Turn on your iron to a low setting and gently iron over the towel for a few seconds.
- Flip the wax paper over and iron the back side for an additional few seconds.
- If any wax seeps out, place the towel over the affected area and carefully iron it.
- Once completed, allow the wax paper to cool completely.
- Cut out desired shapes from the wax paper sun catchers using scissors.
- Finally, string the shapes onto a piece of twine and hang them in a sunny window.
Notes
- Use different shapes to cut out your sun catchers, such as hearts, stars, or flowers.
- Try layering multiple pieces of wax paper together with different patterns for a more complex sun catcher.
